Beach Abort Test No.1.

This AVI shows the only boilerplate capsule used in the Mercury tests, and uses a McDonnell tower with a Grand central motor. Previous beach tests included the NASA type "C" capsule with the elongate recovery bay, and recruit motors. Also 1/3rd scale tests were conducted to establish why one of the type C capsule tests endured excessive tumbling. This was attributed to a graphite throat in one of the three nozzles breaking.
