On close inspection you can see here that the S/C 1 was fitted with a retro pack for this test, and was mounted on a dummy adapter and fitted with a full capsule Marman clamp. On Escape motor ignition, the capsule Marman clamp was released, as well as the retro pack, to simulate a full abort.
